Sunrun competition identities and digital applications presented together

Across several Sunrun engagements I paired hands-on design with project leadership, building competition brands, a high-fidelity sales app prototype, and a scalable digital training system.

Competition identities

Sunrun runs sales competitions with enormous prize pools. Each program needed a distinct identity while still feeling like it belonged to the same parent brand.

Sales app prototype

Sunrun needed a single app that combined the functionality of four separate tools so sales representatives could track performance, understand quotes and commissions, and see incentives in one place.

Before committing to a full build, leadership needed a convincing “dream app.” I designed a high-fidelity clickable prototype that made the proposed system feel real enough to evaluate and approve.

Quotes & commissions

Research surfaced a major transparency problem: reps could not reliably quote customers and many did not know what commissions they would earn.

The product also required guardrails to prevent misuse, so each feature was evaluated not only for usability but for how it could shape sales behavior.

Training design system

Sunrun’s 10,000+ employees need current information about policies, equipment, pricing, and ethics. A reusable component system made that content faster to produce and much easier to support.

I built and maintained the Figma system while working as a hands-on Design Lead, directing junior designers through production and quality control as the library expanded.

Outcome

The component system reduced support requests by 80%, doubled production throughput, and cut project turnaround times by 50%.

The larger lesson across the Sunrun work was the same: a visual system becomes more valuable when it can survive different programs, products, teams, and production constraints.
